What is Organic Reach?
Organic reach is the number of unique people who see your content on social media without you paying for it. The platform’s algorithm decides who sees your content based on relevance, recency and engagement.
How does organic reach work?
When you publish a post, the algorithm decides, based on a small selection of your followers, whether the post gets shown. Posts that quickly attract a lot of engagement are shown to more people. On Facebook, the organic reach of a page averages only 2 to 5 per cent of its followers.
Organic reach versus paid reach
Paid reach through Meta Ads makes up for the shortfall in organic reach. Organic reach is free but limited and unpredictable; paid reach is scalable but requires budget. A good strategy combines both, with strong organic content as the basis for remarketing.
Increasing organic reach
Use content that invites engagement: ask questions, share valuable insights, use video and carousels. Respond actively to comments in the first hours after publishing. UGC and influencer marketing generate authentic content that increases organic reach.
Why is my organic reach falling?
Platforms increasingly push towards paid visibility. More competition for attention in the feed also lowers the average reach per post.
Is organic reach higher on LinkedIn than on Facebook?
Yes, LinkedIn currently has one of the higher organic reach rates among professional platforms. More at developers.google.com/search.
